You can’t start exploring our nearest neighbouring country early enough. Just across the border, travelling takes on a whole new meaning. Suddenly, connecting trains are reliable and restaurants are affordable. We invite anyone interested – and especially, of course, our first-year students – to join us on this “Introductory Course to the Czech Republic”. It’s not just for railway enthusiasts! An integral part of the excursion is, of course, Bohemian pub culture.
The exact itinerary remains a secret. However, we’ll be staying within our neighbouring region, Ústecký Kraj, throughout. On the programme this year: a railway line that’s being withdrawn from the timetable at the next timetable change. But also a line that’s been in the process of being reactivated for years and which will return from seasonal heritage services to regular scheduled services next year. And a pub right on the platform.
On the way, you can flood us with your questions about travelling in our neighbouring country: How do you get the cheapest tickets? Which places are a must-see? Is there anything vegetarian here? Of course, we’ll also be happy to chat about club life and our past trips.
Meeting point: Saturday, 24 October, 9.15 am at the main station under the dome
Return: approx. 8 pm. No registration required. We’ll buy group tickets for the Czech Republic on the day; the participation fee will then be around 4€.
For our more senior members: This year, the day trip replaces the ‘Alternative Departure from the Freshers’ Cabin Weekend. As the Cabin Weekend is not taking place in Saxon Switzerland as usual, a return journey through Northern Bohemia is unfortunately not an option this year.
